Raw Pages - January 11th, 4:30-6pm
In photography, the artist is encouraged to “shoot raw” because when comparing RAW and JPEG, JPEG is considered a "finished product" because it has already been processed within the camera, while RAW is considered "material" before processing. When the photographer shoots in RAW, they have more flexibility later and more chance of achieving a closer representation of their intended expression.
Let’s use this as an extended metaphor for writing. Words take shape after they have taken shape, they then take a new shape, change colors when light hits them, get variable when they dance their way into ears and hearts and minds. With generosity, this is a space for words to arrive as they are, without judgement, the darlings before they have been killed, the stories before they have been workshopped, the material before it has been processed.
This is an intimate session for sharing your short CNF and fiction work that is unpolished, unedited, fresh and still in the process of becoming something. It is a judgement-free zone where writers can share work in its earliest and most vulnerable form. No polish, no pressure, —just words on the page unguarded.
Each session will also include a generative writing exercise, so you’ll leave with new pages as well as deeper connections to your own work. we’ll read aloud, listen with care, and hold space for the rawness that fuels both creation and connection.
Bring your notebook, your half-finished drafts, your fragments. and most importantly, come as you are.
