The Craft Book Club is a reading group that will focus on critical thinking and discussion around the writer’s craft. Where do they write? What methodologies do they use to support their writing process? How is form and language playing a role? If you were teaching this book to a classroom? What pedagogies would you apply to help your students think deeper into the subject and content?
This book club will examine the fiction writing of currently living queer writers. The first group will meet every other Wednesday for a month beginning on October 28th, 2026. There will be hot tea, water, and some light snacks provided. This group is free but donations are encouraged to help the sustainability of the community space. While there is no assigned host? georgia Van Gunten will be there to moderate and encourage an open and respectful discussion. This will be a recurring group so future book recommendations are welcome.
A hopeful goal of the group is to foster a relationship with the author and have a zoom interview sometime during the reading and discussion process. If the author accepts? Tips will be collected from participants to pay the author for their time. georgia Van Gunten has reached out to Lee Mandelo and is waiting to hear back.
