I look forward to facilitating a five-week poetry writing group. We will start each session with a prompt to help move us from the complexities of our day into the writing process. And we will bring our own work. I will introduce and model in session 1 ways we can effectively ask for and receive the kinds of feedback or critique we seek, thus giving everyone their own options for their work. You might be a person who wrote three poems in your life or a lifetime of writing poetry, we all have something to offer. The request is that you commit to some writing in between sessions for the five weeks.

Dyke cunt bitch (by a 3rd grader’s father!)
Queer (while sneering)
I have been called too much and not enough
And “she thinks she’s so smart”
And sir and they and she and he and Dr Mister (by a confused 7th grader)
You can call me by my names
poet, pirate, truly a dyke
a force of nature, queer!
a teacher, a leader,
percussive, a painter,
sound and color,
sorrowful, reverent, compassionate
wiser now, not yet a sage
my secret name was Stephen but now I might say Sycamore
Dr. Esch to some , Eschy to my unrequited junior high love
a lover and partner, a Suczi and a Banana
fallen warrior, humbled,
I am enough
